God, I wish there was a rewind button in life. I always manage to say the wrong thing at the wrong time.
I never brought up the Papa John's incident again after that. Whatever had happened in there, he didn't want to tell me. That cut me a little deep, because it wouldn't have made any difference to me no matter what it was. But it hurt him more. And it gave me more reason to hate myself.
What made it worse was that I knew what I was doing. I was forcing him to be the strong one. At the time, it was a subconcious action, because that was how it always was before - he acted big and tough to kee
